i.
what do you think is the most important issue in this election?
Global
warming / climate change
ii.
why did you make the decision to stand in this constituency and for this
party (as an independent)?
iii.
what kind of vote are you expecting on May 5th?
No expectations, but saving my deposit would be nice!
iv.
aside from the vote what are you hoping to get out of this campaign?
Raising the profile of green issues in an area sadly lacking in any real
political debate.
v.
in your view what is the greatest threat to our civil liberties at the
moment?
Where do I start?! Any measures being bought in under the excuse / guise of "The
War on Terror".
vi.
Blair has taken us to war three times since coming to power (not including
the occasional ad hoc bombing raid) in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Can war ever be justified?
Yes, if were genuinely facing a direct threat of invasion.
vii.
There is very little left to privatise in this country, if you had your way
what would be brought into public hands?
I believe that all utilities and public transport network should be publicly
owned.
viii.
Some environmental campaigners have started talking about nuclear power as a
way to bring down CO2 emissions - what do you think of this?
It's a bit like saying incinerating your waste would save on landfill sites -
just moves
from one kind of problem to another!
ix.
Asylum and immigration will be central issues in this election. What action on
this issue would you like to see the next government push through?
This issue is more about our state of mind as a nation and is unlikely to be
'solved' by any government legislation.
x.
What question do you wish was on this list but doesn't appear?
Do you feel that religious bodies hold too much influence over this government
and the
political process in general and would you support the disestablishment of
Church and Government? That's easy...Yes!
